The short version

Kyocera slots the TASKalfa 8002i into its TASKalfa 9002i series as the 80 pages per minute option. Also in the series (pages per minute in brackets): TASKalfa 7002i (70) and TASKalfa 9002i (90). From the maker's sheet, it tops out at 120 scanned images a minute, loads 4,150 sheets as standard and 7,650 fully optioned and feeds card up to 300 gsm. Kyocera has replaced it with the TASKalfa 8003i.

How many people can share it?

The straight answer on size: thirty or more people, or a dedicated print room. Busier than that, step up to the TASKalfa 9002i, 90 pages per minute. Fewer pages to print? The TASKalfa 7002i runs at 70 pages per minute.

Which grade, and how do you pay?

The grade sets the outlay and the page count tells you the wear, and you get both in writing. A rental or lease can run up to 60 months, limited by the machine's age, and delivery, network connection, scanning set up and a hands on run through for staff are included.

Under a service agreement, if the machine fails we replace it, for as long as the agreement runs. Selected machines can be rented from $15 a week plus GST; finance needs approval first.

Secondhand? Check these first

  • The meter reading. Pages printed so far, in writing. That number beats the build year as a guide to wear.
  • What comes with it. Extra trays, a finisher, a big paper deck: each one alters the work it can take and the figure on the quote.
  • Who looks after it. We do not sell a machine we cannot service, because a copier nobody can fix is no bargain.
  • Running cost. Get the mono and colour rates per page in writing, plus what each rate covers.

Replacement warranty

What if it fails? We replace it. Any year of the agreement.

If a machine on our service agreement fails, we replace it. That holds for new and secondhand machines alike, and for every way of paying: rental, lease, finance or an outright purchase. The cover lasts as long as the agreement does, every year of it.

A new copier normally carries the maker's warranty for 12 months, covering hardware but not consumables. Once that year is up, the service agreement carries the cover. The full terms of the replacement warranty are written into your agreement.

Questions

Kyocera TASKalfa 8002i questions, answered

Is a new TASKalfa 8002i still available?

No. Kyocera replaced it with the TASKalfa 8003i, so secondhand is the way to get one, and we service every one we sell.

What sort of page count does a secondhand TASKalfa 8002i carry?

No two are the same. The count for the unit you are offered comes in writing, and it is the best single guide to wear.

Which should I get, the TASKalfa 8002i or the TASKalfa 9002i?

Speed is the difference: 80 pages per minute for the TASKalfa 8002i, 90 for the TASKalfa 9002i. Match it to how many people share the machine.

Can I rent the TASKalfa 8002i rather than buy it?

Yes, with finance approval. For this exact model we put the rental figure in writing, next to the outright price; on selected machines it starts from $15 a week plus GST.
