The short version

The TASKalfa 7002i is the 70 pages per minute model in Kyocera's TASKalfa 9002i series. Sister models, slowest first, with pages per minute: TASKalfa 8002i (80) and TASKalfa 9002i (90). Useful numbers: it tops out at 120 scanned images a minute, loads 4,150 sheets as standard and 7,650 fully optioned and feeds card up to 300 gsm. Kyocera has replaced it with the TASKalfa 7003i.

Who is it for?

Sized for thirty or more people, or a dedicated print room, going by its speed. Busier than that, step up to the TASKalfa 8002i, 80 pages per minute.

Which grade, and how do you pay?

Three grades. Renewed is the top one: more parts replaced, close to new, and priced above refurbished. Refurbished means cleaned, serviced, worn parts replaced and tested, and it is the grade most people choose. Used is checked and working, for the lowest outlay. Whichever TASKalfa 7002i you pick, the page count is in writing before you commit, and delivery, network connection, scanning set up and a hands on run through for staff are in the price.

Under a service agreement, if the machine fails we replace it, for as long as the agreement runs. Selected machines can be rented from $15 a week plus GST; finance needs approval first.

What to ask about a secondhand one

  • The meter reading. Pages printed so far, in writing. That number beats the build year as a guide to wear.
  • What comes with it. Extra trays, a finisher, a big paper deck: each one alters the work it can take and the figure on the quote.
  • Who looks after it. We do not sell a machine we cannot service, because a copier nobody can fix is no bargain.
  • Running cost. Get the mono and colour rates per page in writing, plus what each rate covers.

Replacement warranty

What if it fails? We replace it. Any year of the agreement.

If a machine on our service agreement fails, we replace it. That holds for new and secondhand machines alike, and for every way of paying: rental, lease, finance or an outright purchase. The cover lasts as long as the agreement does, every year of it.

A new copier normally carries the maker's warranty for 12 months, covering hardware but not consumables. Once that year is up, the service agreement carries the cover. The full terms of the replacement warranty are written into your agreement.

Questions

Kyocera TASKalfa 7002i: straight answers

Is a new TASKalfa 7002i still available?

No, Kyocera has moved on to the TASKalfa 7003i. Secondhand is the route now, and whichever one you take, we service it.

What sort of page count does a secondhand TASKalfa 7002i carry?

No two are the same. The count for the unit you are offered comes in writing, and it is the best single guide to wear.

Which should I get, the TASKalfa 7002i or the TASKalfa 8002i?

Speed is the difference: 70 pages per minute for the TASKalfa 7002i, 80 for the TASKalfa 8002i. Match it to how many people share the machine.

Can I rent the TASKalfa 7002i rather than buy it?

Yes. Rental is not hire. You sign a business agreement, pay one regular amount, and the machine is serviced while you have it. Selected machines start from $15 a week plus GST, with approval.
