The short version

Kyocera slots the TASKalfa 3554ci into its TASKalfa 2554ci series, from 2021 as the 35 pages per minute option. Sister models, slowest first, with pages per minute: TASKalfa 4054ci (40), TASKalfa 5054ci (50), TASKalfa 6054ci (60) and TASKalfa 7054ci (70). Worth knowing: it needs the optional single pass document feeder to reach 200 scanned images a minute, loads 1,150 sheets as standard and 7,150 fully optioned and feeds card up to 300 gsm. Kyocera has replaced it with the TASKalfa MZ3501ci.

Will it keep up with your office?

Sized for somewhere between five and fifteen people, going by its speed. Busier than that, step up to the TASKalfa 4054ci, 40 pages per minute.

What does secondhand get you?

Three grades. Renewed is the top one: more parts replaced, close to new, and priced above refurbished. Refurbished means cleaned, serviced, worn parts replaced and tested, and it is the grade most people choose. Used is checked and working, for the lowest outlay. Whichever TASKalfa 3554ci you pick, the page count is in writing before you commit, and delivery, network connection, scanning set up and a hands on run through for staff are in the price.

Under a service agreement, if the machine fails we replace it, for as long as the agreement runs. Selected machines can be rented from $15 a week plus GST; finance needs approval first.

Four checks before buying secondhand

  • The meter reading. Pages printed so far, in writing. That number beats the build year as a guide to wear.
  • What comes with it. Extra trays, a finisher, a big paper deck: each one alters the work it can take and the figure on the quote.
  • Who looks after it. We do not sell a machine we cannot service, because a copier nobody can fix is no bargain.
  • Running cost. Get the mono and colour rates per page in writing, plus what each rate covers.

Replacement warranty

What if it fails? We replace it. Any year of the agreement.

If a machine on our service agreement fails, we replace it. That holds for new and secondhand machines alike, and for every way of paying: rental, lease, finance or an outright purchase. The cover lasts as long as the agreement does, every year of it.

A new copier normally carries the maker's warranty for 12 months, covering hardware but not consumables. Once that year is up, the service agreement carries the cover. The full terms of the replacement warranty are written into your agreement.

Questions

What people ask about the Kyocera TASKalfa 3554ci

Is a new TASKalfa 3554ci still available?

No. Kyocera replaced it with the TASKalfa MZ3501ci, so secondhand is the way to get one, and we service every one we sell.

How much wear is on a secondhand TASKalfa 3554ci?

It varies, so we put the count in writing for the exact machine you are looking at. That number tells you more than its age.

Which should I get, the TASKalfa 3554ci or the TASKalfa 4054ci?

Same series, so the choice is speed: 35 pages per minute against 40. Tell us your headcount and monthly pages and we give you a straight answer.

Can the TASKalfa 3554ci go on a rental agreement?

Yes, once finance is approved. Selected machines can be rented from $15 a week plus GST. When the term is up, you move to a newer machine or hand this one back; send us the model for the written figures.
